My Top 3 Fall Moisturizers
I think we can all agree the blistering cold weather and jacked up heating systems result in extra dry skin all winter long. Dry skin is irritating, yes. But there’s more. Dried out skin is ages faster than hydrated skin. Assuming you don’t want to look older than you are and assuming you want fresh, soft and radiant skin, here are the top 3 moisturizers I recommend to help save your skin from fall and winter.
Unlike most people, I have several products in rotation. Whether it’s makeup or skin care items, I always alternate between my favourites. Right now, I am addicted to three, inclluding Lancôme’s Hydra Zen Neurocalm Extreme Soothing Moisturizing Gel-Cream ($73.50). This cream is like a refreshing drink of water for your face. I have dry/combination skin and it starts flaking out when the seasons change. This can be both irritating and unsightly. I recommend testing this product out on a patch of dry skin and waiting about five minutes to see how your skin absorbs it. This will help you figure out exactly how much you need. But a little really does go a long way. It may be a pricey cream, but it’s well worth it.
Another cream I was surprisingly impressed by is Garnier’s Moisture Rescue Gel-Cream ($10.99). Never underestimate an affordable product. Garnier is a fabulous line but this moisturizer is one of my fave Garnier products of all time. It absorbs almost instantly and my skin feels soft and smooth. It keeps my skin hydrated all day long and after prolonged use, the condition of my skin actually improved. Not bad for around ten bucks! You can also opt for the SPF 15 version of Moisture Rescue ($10.99) and the Foaming Cleanser ($7.99) which I am currently infatuated with.
The next moisturizer on my list came out last year but it’s already a classic in my book. Bioderma Hydrabio ($34) is a hydrating lotion that penetrates deep below the surface of the skin without leaving a greasy film behind. Hydrabio is a French brand based out of Lyon and the products are of superior quality. I like that it comes in two different formulas: Light for dry skin and Rich for excessively dry and irritated skin. I actually shared some of this with my fiancé and he loved it. He hates smells, irritating textures and just about everything girl’s products are made of. If it passes his test, it’ll pass anyone’s. You can find this product along with the accompanying Serum ($43) at Pharmaprix locations.
